Michael Leong and Eastlink I & II featured in Channel NewsAsia

Deputy CEO Michael Leong shared SAA’s key motivations and inspiration in designing the award-winning Eastlink I & II at Canberra development, in an article about Singapore’s recent public housing projects.

Michael pointed out that “(designing) HDB flats involves listening to people. It involves understanding the social fabric, creating moments that will be able to generate continuous as well as organised activities”.

Completed in 2018, Eastlink I & II @ Canberra is a mixed development project comprising Eastlink I with six 11 to 12 storey residential blocks, Eastlink II with five 11 storey residential blocks, and Canberra Plaza that serves as a three-storey neighbourhood centre. The development has won several design awards, among them the Architectural Master Prize in 2022 and the WAN Awards in 2021.
